Eligibility criteria

Open to non-governmental organisation (NGO), regional or local authority, non-profit enterprise; or a University or other educational institution. The EUKI funds projects in all EU member states and the (potential) candidate countries of the Western Balkans.

Application Process and Timeline

Projects are selected following a Europe-wide call for project ideas that EUKI put out every year. There are two main steps to get funded. The first step is to provide an outline of your project: explain the existing challenges and goals, and the actions needed to achieve them. If your project outline is selected by the EUKI, you will be invited to prepare a full project proposal in Step 2.

Evidence Of Success

The European Climate Initiative (EUKI) has funded numerous projects across its first eight calls, contributing to climate action and sustainable development across Europe.

Expert Opinion

EUKI funding provides a unique opportunity for energy communities to scale their operations, deepen their climate impact, and contribute meaningfully to Europe’s decarbonization goals. Energy communities inherently align with EUKI’s funding priorities, such as promoting energy transition, advancing climate-neutral mobility, and fostering climate-neutral buildings.
